Introduction to the Crime and Intelligence Analysis Certificate Program

The Crime and Intelligence Analysis Certificate program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to collect and analyze data, develop and test hypotheses, and write conclusions in a manner that adheres to commonly accepted criminal justice research standards. This program is ideal for new employees in the field of crime and intelligence analysis, those who work in crime and intelligence analysis units, law enforcement employees, and anyone who wants to become a crime and intelligence analyst. The program is offered virtually, with live sessions via Zoom, and consists of eight required courses, including a 400-hour practicum/internship with a law enforcement agency. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a certificate from the Law Enforcement Intelligence Units and a Crime and Intelligence Analysis Certificate from Cal State Fullerton. The program is approximately 6-7 months long, with a total program cost of $4,675. The program is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the field of crime and intelligence analysis.

Program Requirements

To be eligible for the Crime and Intelligence Analysis Certificate program, students must meet the following requirements:

• Completion of an Introduction to Criminal Justice and a Criminal Law class from an accredited program of study, or a letter of verification of relevant work experience that demonstrates a working knowledge of the topics above from an employer
• Knowledge of basic computer applications and skills, such as word processing, spreadsheet documents, and data entry
• Students must complete all of the required certificate classes, including the 400-hour Practicum in Crime and Intelligence Analysis, to be eligible for the certificate
