DU Stress and Psychotraumatismes: Theories and Management
Presentation of the Training
The objective of this training is to educate mental health professionals in the management of individuals suffering from stress and psychotraumatism. To achieve this, it is necessary to acquire theoretical knowledge on the clinical aspects of stress and trauma, as well as practical knowledge on the different psychotherapies recommended by scientific research and health authorities.
Admission
Prerequisites
- In Initial Training: Students in the 3rd cycle (DES/DESC) of medical studies in psychiatry, currently enrolled at UT3 or in a French university. Students in the 2nd year of a Master's degree in psychology, currently enrolled at UT3 or in a French university, or already graduated but continuing in an initial training course.
- In Continuing Education: Doctors of Medicine (DE), holders of a French or European Union diploma or outside the European Union. Associated practitioners with a diploma (PADHUE) in Medicine, having satisfied the EVC, undergoing a competency consolidation course or an adaptation internship, holders of a diploma outside the European Union.
Application Modalities
Applications should be sent by email to the address provided, including:
- A letter of motivation/professional project + CV + copy(ies) of diploma(s) allowing access to the requested diploma.
- The calendar for submitting applications: From July 15 to September 30.
Program
The program is divided into several units (UE) taught over four weeks:
- Week 1: Integrative Approaches to Stress and Psychotraumatismes
- UE1: Acquiring knowledge on the etiology and nosography of stress from a clinical and neuropsychological perspective.
- UE2: Choosing an evaluation framework in psychotraumatology.
- Week 2: Emergency and Long-term Management
- UE3: Planning a treatment plan #1: EMDR Module.
- Week 3: Emergency and Long-term Management
- UE4: Planning a treatment plan #2: TCC FT Module.
- Week 4: Institutional Framework and Management Perspectives
- UE5: Managing psycho-traumatological emergencies.
- UE6: Considering complementary management approaches.
- Weeks 1, 2, 3, 4: Clinic, Research, and Ethics
- UE7 (transversal: 6 hours of courses per week): Analyzing scientific literature through clinical research work.
Teaching Team
The teaching team includes various professionals from the University of Toulouse and the CHU de Toulouse, specializing in psychiatry, psychology, and psychotraumatology.
Evaluation
Evaluation methods include:
- Attendance
- Final written exam
- End-of-DU thesis
- Defense of the end-of-DU thesis
After the Training
Competencies
Upon completion, participants will acquire or complement their knowledge on stress and psychotraumatism according to an integrative approach. They will master the different psychotherapeutic approaches for managing stress and psychotraumatism in children, adolescents, and adults.

Cost of Training
- Continuing Education: Registration fees 178 + training fees 2500 .
- Initial Training: University registration fees 300 (+ 34 if no other registration is in progress at UT + 105 CVEC if not already paid).
Registration Modalities
Registration procedures differ for continuing education and initial training, involving the submission of a candidacy application, followed by administrative registration upon receiving a favorable opinion from the teaching staff.
