Presentation of the Formation

This formation is intended for all healthcare professionals who wish to specialize in hospital hygiene, whether they are nurses, health executives, doctors, pharmacists, quality managers, presidents of CLIN, etc. By the decree of June 8, 2012, it is a prerequisite for accessing the national PH hygienist competition.


Admission

Prerequisites

  • In Initial Training:
    • Students in the 3rd cycle (DES/DESC) of medical studies at UT or in a French university
    • Students in the 3rd cycle (DES/DESC) of dental surgery studies, long cycle at UT or in a French university
    • Students in the 3rd cycle (DES/DESC) of dental surgery studies, short cycle at UT or in a French university
    • Students in the 3rd cycle (DES/DESC) of pharmaceutical studies at UT or in a French university
    • Chiefs of clinic and AHU assigned to the CHU of Toulouse
    • Students enrolled in the 3rd year of nursing school at UT or in a French university
  • In Continuing Education:
    • Doctors of Medicine holding a French or European Union diploma, or outside the European Union
    • Doctors of Dental Surgery holding a French or European Union diploma, or outside the European Union
    • Doctors of Pharmacy holding a French or European Union diploma, or outside the European Union
    • Associated practitioner diploma holder outside the EU (PADHUE)
    • Midwife DE, Nurse DE, Anesthesiologist Nurse DE, Operating Room Nurse DE, Advanced Practice Nurse DE, Pediatric Nurse DE, Physiotherapist DE, Dietitian, Radiology Technician DE, Pharmacy Technician: all holders of a French or European Union diploma, or outside the European Union
    • Laboratory technician, quality manager, and other bac +2 according to the file: holders of a French or European Union diploma, or outside the European Union; by decision of the pedagogical commission

Application

  • Application Methods:
    • Send the indicated documents by email to:
      • Letter of motivation/professional project + CV + copy(ies) of diploma(s) allowing access to the requested diploma. For EU and non-EU graduates, a copy of the diploma and its certified translation by a sworn translator are mandatory.
      • Copy(ies) of the justification(s) allowing access to initial training (example: certificate of schooling)
      • Calendar for submitting applications: from June 1st to February 1st
    • The establishment reserves the right to cancel the training if the minimum number of participants is not reached.

Programme

Knowledge

  • Know the areas of prevention of healthcare-associated infections (surveillance, alert, epidemic management; prevention, recommendations, and compliance, risk management methods a priori and a posteriori, training, and educational tools, product advice, and evaluation of products, techniques, architectural projects)
  • Know how to respond to national indicators required in terms of nosocomial infections
  • Identify the different types of microorganisms that can be involved in healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), understand their transmission mechanisms in order to construct a logical and informed reasoning for implementing preventive measures, surveillance, and evaluation of HAIs
  • Lead group work in the field of hygiene and know how to present it
  • Identify the role of the hospital environment and the risks it poses in the occurrence of nosocomial infections in order to construct a logical and informed reasoning for implementing preventive measures and surveillance

The skills targeted are those of the job reference for specialists in Hygiene, Prevention, Control of Infection in Healthcare Settings (SF2H 2018):


  • Treat a report of colonization or HAI and manage an epidemic of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Conduct epidemiological surveillance of healthcare-associated infections.
  • Develop, promote, and support the implementation of a reference framework for measures to prevent healthcare-associated infections.
  • Develop and conduct a program to prevent HAIs integrating antibiotic resistance control.
  • Evaluate a care practice.
  • Develop and conduct a plan to prevent infectious risks related to the environment: air, water, surfaces.
  • Advise decision-makers to take into account the infectious risk for any construction, development, or equipment project in healthcare settings.
  • Design and conduct continuing education activities for healthcare professionals in the field of infectious risk management.

  • Registration Fee in Initial Training:
    • 1st year: University registration fees 300 (+ 34 if no other registration in progress at UT + 105 of CVEC if not already paid)
    • 2nd year: University registration fees 300 (+ 34 if no other registration in progress at UT + 105 of CVEC if not already paid)

Registration Methods

  • Registration in Continuing Education:
    1. Prerequisites: You have submitted an application that has received a favorable opinion from the teacher responsible for the training.
    2. After validation by the SUDPC2S, you will be contacted by email by your MFCA manager who will indicate the administrative registration procedures to be carried out (quote, contract, or agreement, payment of training fees and university registration fees).
    3. You must be registered administratively before the start of the training.
  • Registration in Initial Training:
    1. Prerequisites: You have submitted an application that has received a favorable opinion from the teacher responsible for the training.
    2. After validation of your pedagogical registration authorization, you will be contacted by email by your SUDPC2S manager who will indicate the administrative registration procedures to be carried out (registration file, payment of university registration fees).
    3. You must be registered administratively before the start of the training.
