Program Overview
DU Pratiques Addictives
The DU Pratiques Addictives is a university diploma program offered by the Université de Toulouse. This program aims to train professionals in the field of addictive behaviors, providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify, evaluate, and manage addictive disorders.
Presentation of the Formation
The objective of this diploma is to form professionals who can:
- Identify and evaluate addictive behaviors
- Provide comprehensive care (medical, psychological, socio-educational) to patients
- Promote information, prevention, and therapeutic education
- Collaborate with complementary actors according to the patient's needs
- Manage families and the patient's environment
Admission
Prerequisites
The program is open to students in their third cycle of medical studies, including those in psychiatry, general medicine, hepato-gastroenterology, pneumology, and other relevant fields. It is also open to foreign students enrolled in a French university and to professionals with a diploma in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, or other related fields.
Candidature
To apply, candidates must submit a letter of motivation, a CV, and copies of their diplomas by mail. The calendar for depositing applications is from July 15 to September 19.
Program
The program consists of 7 sessions of 2 days each, from November to May, totaling 85 hours. The curriculum includes:
- Generalities on addictions
- Pharmacology of the main addictive substances
- Management of alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, cocaine, and opiate use disorders
- Dual pathologies and somatic pathologies of addictions
- Principal medical treatments indicated in addictions
- Main therapeutic approaches (psycho-behavioral therapies, ACT) in addictions
- Addictions and specific populations (adolescents, pregnant women)
- Medical-legal aspects of addictions
- The network of care in addictology
- Peer interveners
- Directed teaching of synthesis: study of complex cases in groups during the seminar

The pedagogical team includes professors, doctors, and specialists in addictology, psychiatry, pharmacology, and other relevant fields.
