Program Overview
Introduction to the DIU Chirurgie du pied et de la cheville Program
The DIU Chirurgie du pied et de la cheville is a university diploma program offered by the Université de Toulouse. This program is designed to provide students with the theoretical competencies necessary to diagnose and surgically treat pathologies of the foot.
Presentation of the Formation
The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to diagnose and treat foot pathologies. The formation is composed of 4 sessions, each lasting 2 days, from November to April, totaling 11 days and 65 hours.
Admission
To be eligible for the program, students must meet specific prerequisites:
- In initial training: Students in the 3rd cycle of Medicine enrolled in DES/DESC Orthopedics, students of foreign nationality enrolled in DFMS/DFMSA, and Chiefs of Clinic and AHU of Toulouse.
- In continuing education: Doctors in medicine holding a French or European Union diploma, or holders of a diploma outside the European Union.

- Traumatic dislocations of the fibular tendons
- Achilles tendon surgery
- Biomechanics of the pathological forefoot
- Fractures and malunions of the ankle
- Fractures of the metatarsals and phalanges
- Coverage of substance losses of the foot and ankle
- Approaches to the ankle and foot
- Tumors of the foot
- Biomechanics of the normal foot
- Particularities of the foot and ankle of the diabetic
- Amputations of the foot
- Hallux rigidus: decision algorithm and treatment
- Traumatic ankle sequelae

Stage
The program includes a mandatory 6-day stage.
Evaluation
The evaluation consists of:
- A final written exam
- A written memoir at the end of the DIU
- Validation of the stage
After the Program
Upon completion, students will acquire the theoretical competencies necessary to diagnose and surgically treat pathologies of the foot.
Inscriptions
Cost of the Formation
- Tariff for continuing education registrations: University registration fees 178 + training fees 600
- Tariff for initial training registrations: University registration fees 300 (+ 34 if no other registration is in progress at UT + 105 of CVEC if not already paid)
Modalities of Inscription
- For continuing education: After receiving a favorable opinion on the application, the student will be contacted by the MFCA manager to indicate the administrative registration procedures (quote, contract or agreement, payment of training fees and university registration fees).
- For initial training: After validation of the pedagogical authorization of registration, the student will be contacted by the SUDPC2S manager to indicate the administrative registration procedures (registration file, payment of university registration fees).
