Presentation of the Formation

The prevalence of mental disorders in children, which has increased significantly since the global COVID pandemic, is a major concern for professionals in education, social work, and healthcare. This one-year DU provides the fundamental bases of child psychiatry. It allows professionals who are starting out in the field of child psychiatry or who want to update their knowledge to acquire theoretical and clinical bases from experienced clinicians. It also provides a space for exchanges based on clinical presentations.


Knowledge

  • Adjust their professional posture and communicate with children, parents, and partners.
  • Rely on the exchanges proposed in the course and discussions of cases to enrich their practice.
  • Present a clinical case of a child in its complexity, integrating developmental, school, family, and social dimensions.
  • Complete the contributions of teaching with readings. Articles, books, and digital resources will be proposed.

1 year 8 days of teaching (21 modules and 1 thematic day) between November and May, totaling 49 hours of courses (7 hours in person and 42 hours by video conference)

Pedagogical Methods and Means Used

14 modules of 2 hours including:


  • A interactive state of knowledge and expectations round table on the subject of the course
  • A theoretical-clinical presentation
  • A presentation of clinical situation(s)
  • A discussion based on the clinical situation and the participants' experience

7 conferences of 2 hours open to a wide audience of professionals and students, allowing for richer exchanges and the creation of links between professionals and institutions.


1 thematic day of 7 hours, with interventions from several specialists on a given theme, allowing for cross-views and leaving an important place for exchanges with participants.


Personal work, it will be strongly recommended that participants benefit from preparation and reading time, 3 hours per month.

  • Know the semiology of the main mental disorders in children, current theoretical-clinical models, differential diagnoses, comorbidities, and the most common complications, evolutionary trajectories, and main care modalities.
