Overview

The DU Médecine Hospitaličre Polyvalente is a university diploma program aimed at providing complementary training in hospital medicine for medical professionals. The program is designed to address the shortage of doctors in hospital medicine and to provide practitioners with the necessary skills to work in hospitals, particularly in proximity hospitals where the need is most pressing.

Presentation of the Formation

The program is intended for medical students in their third cycle, especially those enrolled in general medicine or other medical specialties, as well as foreign students and doctors wishing to acquire skills in hospital medicine. The formation focuses on the evaluation and reinforcement of knowledge and competencies necessary for the medical care and responsibility of hospitalized patients in a polyvalent medicine unit.

Objectives

The objectives of the program include:

• Evaluating and reinforcing knowledge and competencies for the medical care of hospitalized patients.
• Understanding the organization and work of a hospital practitioner.
• Optimizing relationships with liberal medical doctors.
• Acquiring good patient-doctor relationship skills.
• Managing chronic diseases, rare diseases, and emergency situations.
• Prescribing common paraclinical exams and therapeutic treatments.

Admission

Prerequisites

• For initial training: Students in the 3rd cycle enrolled in general medicine or other medical specialties, foreign students, and hospital-university assistants.
• For continuing education: Doctors holding a French or European Union diploma, or a diploma from outside the European Union.

Application Modalities

Applications should be sent by email with a letter of motivation, CV, and copies of relevant diplomas. The establishment reserves the right to cancel the formation if the minimum number of participants is not reached.

Program

The program consists of 8 sessions of 2 days each, from October to May, totaling 16 days and 96 hours over 2 years. The curriculum includes:

• Frequent hematological and rheumatological situations in hospital polyvalent medicine.
• Frequent cardiologic and pneumologic situations in hospital polyvalent medicine.
• Frequent neurological situations in hospital polyvalent medicine.
• Generalities in immunopathology in hospital polyvalent medicine.
• Management of acute situations in hospital polyvalent medicine.
• Frequent nephrological and digestive situations in hospital polyvalent medicine.

Teaching Team

The teaching team includes various medical professionals and specialists in different fields of medicine.

Evaluation

Evaluation is based on:

• Attendance during the first year.
• Attendance and a final oral exam during the second year.
• A final thesis.

After the Program

Upon completion of the program, students will have acquired the necessary competencies to ensure the medical care and responsibility of patients hospitalized in a polyvalent medicine unit. They will be able to:

• Evaluate and manage chronic diseases.
• Take charge of patients with rare diseases.
• Optimize relationships with liberal medical doctors.
• Acquire a good level of competency in patient-doctor relationships.
• Manage emergency situations and prescribe appropriate treatments.

Cost of the Formation

• For continuing education: 1st year - 178 (university registration fees) + 1000 (formation fees), 2nd year - 178 (university registration fees) + 1000 (formation fees).
• For initial training: 1st year - 300 (university registration fees) + additional fees, 2nd year - 300 (university registration fees) + additional fees.

Modalities of Inscription

Inscription requires a favorable opinion from the teaching staff, followed by administrative registration procedures, including the payment of fees. It is imperative to be administratively registered before the start of the teachings.
