Program Overview

Introduction to the Technicien en Recherche & Développement en Biologie (R&DBio Tech) Program

The Technicien en Recherche & Développement en Biologie (R&DBio Tech) program is a professionalizing course aimed at training technicians in research and development in biology, specifically in the fields of health, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. This program is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in scientific and technical knowledge, as well as practical skills, to facilitate their professional integration at the Bac + 3 level.

Presentation of the Formation

The R&DBio Tech program is proposed as an alternation to strengthen links with the professional world. After two years of studying for a degree in Life Sciences (L1 + L2), this formation, accessible by application to students enrolled in L2 2B2M and BCP (or equivalent courses in other institutions), aims to complement a background of scientific and technical knowledge in molecular biology, cellular biology, and immunology with enhanced practical skills and autonomy. A 90-hour module of practical work and a six-month internship in a company or laboratory are offered. The practice of English is integrated into several teachings, particularly in a unit dedicated to communication.

Knowledge

The formation provides theoretical and practical knowledge in the following areas:

  • Biologie cellulaire
  • Immunologie
  • Biologie moléculaire
  • Bio-informatique
  • Pharmacologie
  • Biotechnologies

Specificities of the Formation

The course is particularly addressed to students who have validated a L SdV 2 2B2M or BCP at UT3 and wish to pursue professional integration at the Bac + 3 level.

Admission

Prerequisites

  • Niveau(x) de recrutement: Bac
  • Formation(s) requise(s): The first year of the License Sciences de la Vie is accessible to students with a French baccalaureate, a DAEU (Diploma of Access to University Studies), or an equivalent diploma. A strong foundation in scientific subjects is highly recommended for entry into the first year.

Application

  • Modalités de candidature: Selection is based on an application and interview.
  • Modalités de candidature spécifiques: Specific application modalities include a selection process based on the student's dossier and an interview.

Program

The syllabus for the L3 Technicien en Recherche et Développement en Biologie is available in PDF format and includes a presentation of the year, the program of each Teaching Unit (UE) with associated bibliography, and the coordinates of the teacher responsible and the secretariat of the formation.

Stage(s)

  • A mandatory six-month internship is included in the S6.

Projet(s) tutoré(s)

  • A tutored project is included in the S6.

Modalités

Méthodes et moyens pédagogiques utilisés

The course is entirely taught in person. Digital tools are used for:

  • Acquiring, controlling, and broadening knowledge
  • Compensating for the impossibility of conducting experiments on living material
  • Self-assessment to allow students to position themselves within their training

After the Program

Competences

Upon completion of the program, students will have acquired the following competencies:

  • Anticipate and prepare an experiment
  • Realize and optimize an experiment
  • Analyze and interpret data
  • Communicate about their work
  • Position themselves in the professional field
  • Master technical and scientific English
  • Master cell culture
  • Understand and implement common spectrophotometric and immunological dosing techniques
  • Understand and use imaging techniques
  • Know gene cloning technologies, mutagenesis, and methods for highlighting DNA/protein and protein/protein interactions
  • Use data acquisition and analysis software
  • Know the general principles of applying good laboratory practices and good production practices in relation to the quality approach and current standards

Poursuites d'études

There are no direct continuation studies within UT3 or outside UT3 after completing this program.

Débouchés professionnels

Graduates can pursue careers as:

  • Assistant(e) de recherche
  • Technicien(ne) de laboratoire

This program is designed to provide a comprehensive education that prepares students for immediate integration into the professional world, with a focus on research and development in biology and related fields.
