Program Overview

Master Parcours Innovations Pharmacologiques (IP)

Overview

The Master Parcours Innovations Pharmacologiques (IP) is a two-year program designed to teach students the principles of pharmacological research for the identification of innovative treatments. The program focuses on reinforcing teachings through situational learning (projects, practical workshops).

Presentation of the Formation

The program aims to:

  • Teach students the fundamental principles of developing drug candidates from in vitro aspects to the realization of (pre)clinical pharmacological studies using relevant animal models of human pathologies.
  • Provide theoretical and practical skills to propose/validate new targets in different therapeutic areas.
  • Develop protocols and research projects leading to the analysis of pharmacological parameters characterizing a therapeutic target and/or its ligand.
  • Anticipate potential side effects of new treatments and propose alternative strategies.
  • Analyze experimental data to develop a critical spirit and consider new scientific hypotheses.

Knowledge

The program covers:

  • Therapeutic targets
  • Major classes of drugs
  • Drug study models
  • Phases of developing a drug candidate
  • Properties of drugs and new therapeutic strategies

Admission

Prerequisites

  • Level of recruitment: Bac + 3
  • Required formation: The M1 SMPS parcours Innovations Pharmacologiques (InnPh) is open to students with a degree in cellular biology and physiology, biochemistry, or molecular biology and microbiology. The M2 InnPh is open to holders of a Master 1 (Sciences of the drug, Health Engineering, or equivalent), students who have validated a DFA2 in pharmacy (Industrial track), medicine, or sciences, as well as biotechnology engineers.

Candidature

  • Modalities of candidature: The Master's programs are open to holders of diplomas sanctioning the first cycle studies (180 ECTS) or equivalent and in a corresponding field of study. Admission is pronounced after a selection procedure and depending on the institution's defined capacities. The application deposit must be made on the national Master's platform.
  • Conditions of admission/Modalities of selection: Based on the dossier.

Program

Pedagogical Team

  • Teachers-researchers (70%): Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Engineering Sciences of UT3
  • Health industry professionals (30%)

Stage(s)

  • In M2: A 6-month stage (30 ECTS) starting from January, in the field of pharmacology within one of Toulouse's laboratories/institutes (or another validated by the master's managers).
  • During this professional immersion, the student will be able to apply theoretical knowledge in the context of a research project in the field of pharmacology (academic or industrial environment).
  • The student will contribute to improving knowledge on the evaluation of the therapeutic potential of drug candidates and/or the development of diagnostic methods for different human or animal pathologies.

Stay(s) Abroad

  • Possible if compatible with the student's schedule.
