Overview

The DU Maintien et Soins ŕ Domicile is a university diploma program offered by the Faculté de Santé, Département des Sciences Pharmaceutiques, at the Université de Toulouse. Admission Criteria

Prerequisites

  • For Initial Training:
    • Students in their 3rd cycle of Pharmacy whose 6th year of the pharmacy curriculum is validated (i.e., pharmacists waiting for their thesis defense).
    • Chiefs of clinic and AHU of Toulouse
    • Students graduated with a Master's degree but continuing in an initial training curriculum in the field of medical devices
  • For Continuing Education:
    • Doctors of Pharmacy holding a French, European Union, or non-European Union diploma and registered with the French Council of the Order.
    • Practicing associate doctors graduated outside the EU (PADHUE), having satisfied the EVC, accomplishing a competency consolidation course or an adaptation internship.
    • Nurses (DE) holding a French or European Union diploma and registered with the French Council of the Order.
    • Pediatric Nurses (DE) holding a French or European Union diploma and registered with the French Council of the Order.
    • Nursing Assistants, Ergotherapists (DE) holding a French or European Union diploma.
    • Pharmacy Preparers holding a French or European Union diploma or a diploma from outside the European Union.
    • Technicians and Engineers in the field of health technologies and digital, Users of care services involved in improving care (minimum diploma level 4) holding a French or European Union diploma.
    • Health managers, members of multidisciplinary care teams constituted around patients benefiting from home care, any person whose sector of activity is related to medical devices and their use in the context of home care (subject to acceptance by the DU managers).

Application Procedure

  • Address the required documents by mail to the specified address.
  • Documents include:
    • Letter of motivation/professional project + CV + copy(ies) of diploma(s) allowing access to the requested diploma.
    • Copy of registration with the French Council of the Order.

Program Content

  • General Presentation of Home Care:
    • Presentation of the MAD-SAD (Maintien ŕ Domicile - Soins ŕ Domicile).
    • Networks of care: organization, good practices, role of the pharmacist.
  • Material for Home Care and Its Management:
    • Generalities concerning equipment for home care and its management at the pharmacy.
    • Arrangement of the patient's home and equipment of the patient's room.
  • Pathologies and Patient Care:
    • End of life, palliative care, and pain management.
    • Adaptation of care to the particularities of patients (care of the pregnant woman and the newborn, the sick child, patients with cancer, disability... according to the availability of speakers).
  • Use of Medical Gases, Oxygen Therapy:
    • Utilization of medical gases, oxygen therapy, BPDO.
  • Specific Care Approaches:
    • Osteo-articular pathologies and polyarthritis.
    • Urinary approach.
    • Digestive approach.
    • Wounds and healing.
    • Respiratory approach.
    • Parenteral approach.

After the Program

Acquired Competencies

  • Know the care networks and the possibilities of taking charge of home maintenance.
  • Acquire the skills to manage medical equipment (quality assurance, good practices, hygiene rules...).
  • Know the main pathologies associated with home care and the characteristics of the patients concerned (geriatrics, pediatrics, oncology, disability...).
  • Acquire the skills to dispense the main medical equipment and devices associated with home care and different approaches, improve patient care.
  • Know the legislation related to the use of medical gases and be authorized to handle them, i.e., acquire the skills for the dispensation of oxygen to the patient's home and coordination with the different professional health interveners to:
    1. Dispense oxygen in an optimal and secure manner, in accordance with current regulations, for medical use at the patient's home.
    2. Improve the respiratory care of chronic patients treated at home after or as an alternative to hospitalization.

Tuition Fees

  • Continuing Education:
    • University registration fees: 178 + training fees: 1700.
    • A tariff reduction may be considered depending on your status. For any request for information, you can contact the MFCA manager of this training.
  • Initial Training:
    • University registration fees: 300 (+ 34 if no other registration is in progress at UT + 105 CVEC if not already paid).
