The DU Ethique du soin et de la recherche appliquée aux (bio)technologies innovantes is a university diploma program offered by the Université de Toulouse.

Presentation of the Formation

The program aims to provide students with the knowledge and tools necessary to identify and analyze ethical and legal questions related to the development and use of new technologies in healthcare. The program is integrated into the formations proposed by the Chaire UNESCO Ethique, Science et Société, led by the Université Fédérale de Toulouse.

Connaissances

The program covers the following areas of knowledge:

• Acquiring a foundation of knowledge on current innovative biotechnologies and biotherapies.
• Providing the bases and tools for identifying and analyzing ethical and legal questions that professionals will encounter in the development and use of new technologies in their practice.
• Furnishing ethical and legal references and the necessary tools for the development and use of new technologies in the health domain.
• Developing knowledge in the field of ethics and law in the areas covered by the diploma and initiating critical reasoning on the use of new technologies in the health domain.
• Enabling students to identify the different stages of ethical questioning: identification of the question posed, identification of legal references and ethical values to balance in order to provide a response, and proposal of modes of resolution of dilemmas integrating legal norms.
• Integrating a reflective dimension into practices and professional relationships necessary for the use of new technologies.

The program is taught in Toulouse, at 37 all Jules Guesde.

The program lasts 1 year, consisting of 5 modules of 2-3 days each, from November to July, totaling 12 days (90 hours).

Pré-requis

The prerequisites for the program are as follows:

Formation(s) requise(s)

• For initial training: students in their 3rd cycle of Pharmacy, Dental Surgery, Medicine, Master 2 graduates or in the process of studying in Human and Social Sciences, foreign students enrolled in DFMS/DFMSA, hospital chiefs of clinic or AHU in Toulouse, and Master 2 students.
• For continuing education: doctors in pharmacy, dental surgery, or medicine holding a French or European Union diploma or a diploma from outside the European Union, nurses, midwives, psychologists, national education teachers, technicians and engineers in the field of health technologies and digital, lawyers, ethicists, sociologists, philosophers, and Master 2 graduates in sciences holding a French or European Union diploma or a diploma from outside the European Union.

To apply, candidates must submit the following documents by email:

• A letter of motivation, CV, and a copy of the diploma(s) allowing access to the DIU.
• For EU and non-EU graduates, a copy of the diploma and its certified translation are mandatory.
• Fluency in French is required. The application period is from June 1st to September 30th.

Modalités

Méthodes et moyens pédagogiques utilisés

The teachings will prioritize interdisciplinarity and hybridization of teachers (modules will be co-animated by teachers/professionals from human and social sciences and scientists) and students (favoring the meeting of students from diverse academic backgrounds to offer them the possibility of exchanging their points of view: students from SHS, life sciences, and engineers). The 5 modules proposed over 2-3 days each will alternate between lectures and directed work (debates or concrete cases to discuss based on practical cases proposed by the speakers or articles from the literature).

The evaluation will be based on:

• Attendance.
• Final written exam.
• Final oral exam.

Coût de la formation

The cost of the program is as follows:

• Tarif des inscriptions en formation continue: 178 € for university registration fees + 1000 € for training fees.
• Tarif des inscriptions en formation initiale: 300 € for university registration fees (+ 34 € if not already enrolled at UT + 105 € for CVEC if not already paid).

1. Prerequisites: You have submitted a candidacy application that has received a favorable opinion from the teacher responsible for the formation.
2. After validation by the SUDPC2S, you will be contacted by email by your MFCA manager, who will indicate the administrative registration procedures to be carried out (quote, contract or agreement, payment of training fees and university registration fees).
3. You must be administratively registered before the start of the teachings.

Inscription en formation initiale

1. Prerequisites: You have submitted a candidacy application that has received a favorable opinion from the teacher responsible for the formation.
2. After validation of your pedagogical registration authorization, you will be contacted by email by the scholarship service of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, which will indicate the administrative registration procedures to be carried out (registration file, payment of university registration fees).
3. You must be administratively registered before the start of the teachings.
