The Special Education and Logopedics program at Vilniaus University aims to prepare students to work with children who have special educational needs due to disabilities and impairments. The program provides students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to offer special pedagogical assistance, work in educational support teams, and consult with students, their parents, and teachers.

Program Plan

1. General pedagogy, developmental psychology, inclusive and personalized education subjects for acquiring general pedagogue competencies.
2. Special education subjects that provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills for offering special pedagogical assistance and meeting students' special educational needs.
3. Logopedics subjects that provide specialized skills for logopedic activities and strategies for overcoming speech, language, and communication disorders.
4. Elective university subjects.

Admission Requirements

• Minimum Requirements:
  • For those who acquired secondary education in 2026:
    • Pass at least 3 state exams (Lithuanian language and literature, mathematics, and one elective subject).
    • Exam results must not be lower than the basic achievement level, meaning the arithmetic average of the three state exam assessments must be at least 50 points.
  • Check requirements based on the year of secondary education acquisition.

Competitive Score

Additional Points

Additional points can be added to the competitive score for achievements demonstrating activity, knowledge, and initiative, such as winning places in olympiads or contests, high-grade graduation papers, volunteering, or other significant achievements.

Application Steps

1. Choose a Study Programme: Familiarize yourself with all bachelor's and integrated study programs and their requirements. Evaluate your interests, strengths, and professional ambitions.
2. Check for Additional Requirements: For most applicants, it's enough to know the subjects included in the competitive score and meet the minimum requirements. However, in some cases, additional diploma recognition and/or grade conversion may be required.
3. Submit an Application through LAMA BPO: During the general admission period, applications are submitted through the LAMA BPO system.

Scholarships

Vilniaus University students can apply for scholarships for excellent academic performance, active scientific, sports, or public activities, as well as social support for students in difficult life situations.

State-Funded Loans

Students can use state-funded loans provided according to the procedure established by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. These loans are intended to help finance studies and living expenses during the study period.

Reduction of Study Fees

Study fees can be reduced in the following cases:

• Active Scientific Activity: If a student is actively involved in scientific activities, the fee reduction can range from 30% to 100%, depending on achievements.
• Active Cultural Activity: If a student actively participates in the university's cultural activities for at least 2 years, the fee reduction can range from 30% to 90%, depending on achievements.
• Active Sports: If a student actively engages in sports and represents the university, the fee reduction can range from 30% to 100%, depending on sports achievements.
• University Employees: A university employee's study fee can be reduced up to 70% if they work at the university for at least half a year without interruption.

Compensation of Study Fees

This is an opportunity for students to refund part or all of the paid study fee for high academic achievements.

Career Opportunities

Graduates of the Special Education and Logopedics program have broad career opportunities. They can work as special educators and/or logopedists in kindergartens, general education schools, special education and consultation centers, and other educational institutions in Lithuania and abroad, or choose private practice as a special educator-logopedist. They can also continue their studies in master's programs in educational sciences.
