Programme Plan

The program is designed to train highly qualified materials technology specialists with modern knowledge in chemistry, pharmacy, technology, and biology, as well as strong research skills. Studies enable the creation and analysis of pharmaceutical substances, as well as the solution of pharmaceutical chemistry problems, in research institutions or pharmaceutical production companies. Research projects, together with the final thesis, account for half of the program, ensuring engagement in advanced research and the development of practical skills.

Admission Requirements

  • Entry qualification: Undergraduate diploma (or higher) in Physical Sciences (Chemistry), Life Sciences (Biochemistry), or Technological Sciences (Chemical Engineering or Materials Engineering)
  • Completion of course units in the field of chemistry or chemical technologies during Bachelor studies, totaling no fewer than 50 credits, with grades constituting at least 70% of the maximum achievable grade
  • Motivational interview to assess program-related interests, knowledge in the field of chemistry, and English language proficiency
  • Applicants must submit a motivation letter and at least one academic reference
  • Entry qualification documents are accepted in English or Lithuanian

Language Requirements

  • English language proficiency: IELTS Academic 6.5+, TOEFL iBT 81+, Cambridge English Exam 176+, Pearson PTE Academic 59+, LanguageCert IESOL B2, Duolingo English Test 120+, or another language proficiency certificate equivalent to B2 CEFR

Other Requirements

  • At least one reference from a current or former lecturer
  • A motivation letter must be added to the application
  • Applicants from Bangladesh, Nepal, and Pakistan must submit an OMPT-G (Online Mathematics Placement Test) Certificate with a minimum passing grade of 60%

Admission Steps

  1. Find your program and check the application dates
  2. Check your eligibility and prepare the necessary documents
  3. Pay the application fee and submit your application
  4. Take the motivational interview
  5. Confirm the acceptance and pay the tuition fee
  6. Arrange your arrival in Vilnius

Learning Outcomes

  • Integrate knowledge of chemistry, biology, and pharmacology in practical research contexts
  • Evaluate drug effects from the molecular level through to the whole organism
  • Apply modern principles of drug synthesis, production, and validation
  • Plan, design, and conduct experimental research using advanced instrumental techniques
  • Analyze, systematize, and interpret scientific and experimental data
  • Critically assess the quality, reliability, and relevance of scientific information
  • Propose innovative solutions to complex challenges in pharmaceutical chemistry
  • Select, justify, and apply appropriate technological and methodological approaches
  • Solve problems creatively, including in uncertain or complex situations
  • Model and evaluate advanced strategies in drug design and development
  • Communicate research results effectively to both specialists and the public in English
  • Gain awareness of the environmental and societal impacts of pharmaceutical research and development

Financing

  • Annual tuition fee for a state non-funded place: 6,000 EUR for non-EU students, 5,641 EUR for EU students
  • Application fee: 100 EUR per application

Career Prospects

Graduates of the Pharmaceutical Chemistry program can pursue careers in high-technology industry companies, including pharmaceutical, medical, and biotechnology sectors, as well as in university, research institute, and hospital laboratories and study centers. They can also continue with doctoral studies and develop new drug synthesis methods and technologies at universities, research institutes, or corporate R&D departments in Lithuania and abroad.
