The Pradinio ugdymo pedagogika ir ikimokyklinis ugdymas program is designed to prepare students to become qualified teachers of pre-primary and primary education. The program focuses on developing students' knowledge and skills in pedagogy, psychology, and educational sciences.

Program Plan

The program consists of 240 credits, which cover the basic, professional, community, and research competencies of a teacher. The curriculum includes subjects such as pedagogy, psychology, educational didactics, inclusivity, ICT, child education, and assessment. Competencies are developed through pedagogical practices in pre-primary and primary education institutions, educational research, and a final thesis. The program ends with the defense of a bachelor's thesis. 30 credits are allocated for individual studies.

Admission Requirements

• Minimum Requirements:
  • For those who acquired secondary education in 2026:
    • Pass at least 3 state exams (Lithuanian language and literature, mathematics, and one elective subject)
    • Exam results must meet the minimum achievement level (average of 3 state exam scores must be at least 50)
  • For those who acquired secondary education before 2026, check the requirements according to your year of education

Competitive Score

The competitive score is calculated based on the following subjects and their coefficients:

• Lithuanian language and literature: 0.4
• Mathematics or a foreign language, or information technology, or geography: 0.2
• Any other subject not overlapping with the above: 0.2
• History: 0.2

Additional Points

Additional points can be added to the competitive score for achievements demonstrating activity, knowledge, and initiative, such as winning places in olympiads or contests, high-grade final projects, volunteering, or other significant achievements. Up to 2.5 additional points can be added when applying for state-funded, state-funded with a scholarship, or non-state-funded places.

Application Steps

1. Choose a Study Programme: Get acquainted with all the offered bachelor's and integrated study programs and their requirements. Evaluate your interests, strengths, and professional ambitions.
2. Check for Additional Requirements: For most applicants, it's enough to know which subjects make up the competitive score and meet the minimum requirements. However, in some cases, additional diploma recognition and/or grade conversion might be required.

4. Wait for an Invitation to Study and Sign a Contract: After receiving an invitation to study, first, you need to pay the registration fee. The study contract must be signed by the end of the specified deadline; otherwise, the invitation to study becomes invalid.

• Apply Innovative Strategies: Use innovative child education strategies and technologies to organize educational activities and environments; conduct research, communicate in all educational environments in proper Lithuanian, and use a foreign language for academic and professional purposes.

• Annual Tuition Fee for a non-state-funded place: 4,108 EUR

Scholarships

Vilnius University students can apply for scholarships for excellent academic achievements, active scientific, sports, or social activities, as well as social support for students in difficult life situations.

State-Funded Loans

Students can use state-funded loans provided according to the procedure established by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. These loans are intended to help finance studies and living expenses during the study period. Possible loan types include:

• Loan for partial studies abroad

Compensation of Study Costs

This is an opportunity for students to refund part or all of the paid tuition fees for high academic achievements.

Reduction of Tuition Fees

Tuition fees can be reduced in the following cases:

• Active Scientific Activity: If a student is actively involved in scientific activities, the tuition fee reduction can range from 30% to 100%, depending on achievements.
• Active Cultural Activity: If a student actively participates in the university's cultural activities for at least 2 years, the tuition fee reduction can range from 30% to 90%, depending on achievements.
• Active Sports: If a student actively engages in sports and represents the University, the tuition fee reduction can range from 30% to 100%, depending on sports achievements.
• University Employees: A University employee's tuition fee can be reduced up to 70% if they work at the University for at least half a year and have been continuously employed for at least 10 months.
