The Music Pedagogy program is designed to train music pedagogy specialists who can effectively model and organize music education processes at various levels and sectors of the education system. Graduates of the Music Pedagogy program will be able to purposefully form and cultivate students' artistic self-expression and musical culture, identify and solve professional problems, conduct scientific research, and initiate communication and cooperation in implementing the country's education and culture policy.

Program Plan

The Music Pedagogy study program combines music and pedagogy disciplines. By studying, you will acquire a solid foundation in music - theory, solfeggio, harmony, music literature - and develop practical skills in playing various instruments, mastering singing and conducting techniques. Pedagogical competencies will be provided by studies in psychology, pedagogy, music didactics, and inclusive education, while work with modern technologies will be ensured by practice in a professional sound studio.

Admission Requirements

• Minimum Requirements: To participate in the competition for the desired study place, you must meet the minimum requirements, which depend on the year of completion of secondary education.
• Minimum Requirements for Those Who Completed Secondary Education in 2026:
  • Pass at least 3 state exams (Lithuanian language and literature, mathematics, and a freely chosen state exam).
  • The results of the exams must not be lower than the basic achievement level, meaning the arithmetic average of the three state exam assessments must be at least 50 points.

Additional Points

Additional points are added to your competitive score when applying to the university. These points can increase your overall competitive score and strengthen your chances of getting into the desired study program. They are awarded for achievements demonstrating your activity, knowledge, and initiative, such as winning places in olympiads or competitions, high-grade graduation papers, volunteering, or other significant achievements.

Application Steps

1. Choose a Study Program: Get acquainted with all the offered bachelor's and integrated study programs and their requirements. Evaluate your interests, strengths, and professional ambitions.
2. Check for Additional Requirements: If you receive an invitation to study, first, you need to pay the registration fee.
3. Sign a Study Agreement: The study agreement must be signed before the deadline; otherwise, the invitation to study becomes invalid.
4. Submit an Application through LAMA BPO: During the general admission period, applications are submitted through the LAMA BPO system.

Scholarships

Vilnius University students can apply for scholarships for good academic performance, active scientific, sports, or social activities, as well as social support for students in difficult life situations.

State-Supported Loans

Students can use state-supported loans, which are provided according to the procedure established by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. These loans are intended to help finance studies and living expenses during the study period.

Compensation for Study Costs

This is an opportunity for students to refund part or all of the paid study costs for high academic achievements.

Reduction of Study Fees

The study fee can be reduced in the following cases:

• Active Scientific Activity: If a student is actively involved in scientific activities, the fee reduction can range from 30% to 100%, depending on the achievements.
• Active Cultural Activity: If a student actively participates in the university's cultural activities for at least 2 years, the fee reduction can range from 30% to 90%, depending on the achievements.
• Active Sports: If a student actively engages in sports and represents the University, the fee reduction can range from 30% to 100%, depending on sports achievements.
• University Employees: A University employee's study fee can be reduced by up to 70% if they work at the University for at least half a year without interruption.

Career Opportunities

Music Pedagogy graduates can work as music teachers in general education schools, pre-school education institutions, and art or music schools, lead various collectives and non-formal education collectives. The acquired competencies also open up opportunities for entrepreneurship - establishing private studies, organizing creative events, and educational projects.
