Introduction to the STEAM Day Camp

The STEAM Day Camp is a four-day program designed for middle school students to explore science, technology, engineering, agriculture, and math during the summer break from school. Faculty and students from the College of Engineering, College of Applied Sciences and Arts, College of Science, and College of Agricultural Science will lead students through hands-on experiments, exploring the natural environment, and engaging demonstrations.

Program Details

• Date: July 15 July 18, 2024
• Time: 8:30 am- 3 pm
• Check-In: 8 am on Monday, July 15, 2024, in Pulliam, Room 34. The location of the camp is the STEM Education Research Center. Please note that Southern Illinois University is committed to gender inclusivity, and this camp is open to all persons, including boys. The program is designed for students entering grades 6, 7, or 8 for fall 2024.

• Fee: $140
  • Registration can be completed online or by phone with a VISA, Mastercard, or Discover.
  • A registration form with payment information can also be faxed.

Scholarship Application

There is a scholarship available to cover the cost of attendance to this camp. To apply, fill out the scholarship application form. The scholarship is intended to support students who may not otherwise be able to attend due to financial constraints.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

All requests for refunds must be submitted in writing. The registration fee, less a $15 cancellation fee, will be refunded if you cancel at least 7 business days prior to the camp. Any time after that date, refunds (less the $15 fee) will be issued for medical reasons only, and must have a signed statement from your physician. If a medical cancellation request is not received by the last day of instruction, a refund will not be issued. Refunds are not given to campers who voluntarily leave camp or who are sent home for disciplinary reasons.

Camp Requirement

The Camp Medical Release Form is required for camp participation and must be received in the office at least five (5) business days before camp begins in order for the student to participate.

The goal of the STEAM Day Camp is to explore the world around us, enhance confidence in problem-solving, meet new people, and spark students' interest in important careers that can improve the world in which we live. The camp is sponsored by the College of Engineering, College of Applied Sciences and Arts, College of Science, and the College of Agricultural Science.
