EKG Technician Certificate

The EKG Technician Certificate program is designed to prepare students for a career as an EKG technician. The program covers the anatomy of the heart, cardiovascular disease, medical ethics, patient care, and the use of EKG machines.

Externship

Students may choose to participate in an optional volunteer externship with a local organization in their field to gain hands-on experience. Externship sites may require additional documentation, such as health records, immunizations, drug screening, or background checks.

EKG technicians play an important role in healthcare, working in hospitals, clinics, physicians' offices, and other healthcare settings, as well as for insurance companies to provide data for health and life insurance policies. As the need for skilled healthcare workers grows, opportunities for EKG technicians remain strong.

Certification Opportunities

After completing the program, students will be prepared to sit for a national certification exam, including the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified EKG Technician (CET) exam. The NHA exam requires 10 live EKGs before testing.
