Program Overview

Introduction to the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion PIE Institute

The Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Pedagogies for Inclusive Excellence (PIE) Institute is a program designed to build a community of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) protagonists. This is achieved through 25 hours of practice in developing anti-racist pedagogy and dismantling white supremacy in online teaching.

Program Details

The program pays special attention to several key areas, including:

  • Accessibility and universal design for learning
  • Microaggressions in teaching practices
  • Anti-racism in designing assignments and assessments
  • Centering student voice and experience

Participants in the program will receive expert feedback on their responses to prompts and have the opportunity for individual consultations via office hours. The program's objectives include:

  • Identifying and assessing personal goals for anti-racist pedagogy practice in online teaching
  • Examining and demonstrating knowledge of historical and contemporary institutional and individual racism and white supremacy in education practice
  • Assessing current assignments, assessments, and teaching practices through a critical race perspective
