Course Description
The course YFL2030, "An integrated approach to subject and vocational education," integrates vocational depth and professional subjects to provide insight into vocational education and training from a school, vocational, and societal perspective. The course includes knowledge of the school's mandate, the school as an organization, and the history of vocational education and training. Entrepreneurship, innovation, and creativity are emphasized in the students' work with teaching and training that align with societal needs.

The course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of vocational education and training. The content includes:
- Knowledge of the history of vocational education and training and professional practice, and their significance in today's society
- Knowledge of national and international research and development work within vocational education and training
- Knowledge of entrepreneurship and innovative working methods in the development of vocational competence
- Knowledge of the school's mandate and the school as an organization

- Facilitate development projects that allow for specialization within their own vocational field in collaboration with students, colleagues, professional environments, and relevant companies
- Convey professional ethical attitudes and role understanding that contribute to the development of professional pride
- Design and plan development projects related to the vocational teacher profession
- Apply experiences from planning into new projects
- Have insight into the need for the development of broad and deep vocational competence within vocational education and training
Learning Methods and Activities
The course includes teaching, other learning activities during gatherings, and digital learning activities between gatherings. There are mandatory coursework requirements in the course that must be approved in order to be eligible to take the exam.

Evaluation
The exam task involves creating a digital storytelling. A digital storytelling as a form of exam means that the students create a short film, where they use digital tools to tell a story. The story is based on the student's own experiences, experiences, and curriculum. The film includes a combination of images, text, narration, and music. The exam is assessed individually using the grading scale A-F, where grades A-E are passing and grade F is failing.
Specific Conditions
Admission to a programme of study is required: Vocational Teacher Education (BYRK).
Required Previous Knowledge
Requires admission to vocational teacher education - bachelor's programme. Must have passed all courses from the first year of study and the course from autumn second year of study to start this course.
