Course Description
The course "Byggetradisjoner og byggeprosess" (MIB4203) focuses on traditional building techniques and building processes, with a main emphasis on wood construction. The course covers building processes and aims to integrate traditional knowledge into current construction methods and building processes.
Learning Outcome
Upon completion of the course, students will have gained knowledge about traditional building techniques based on wood materials. They will be able to integrate traditional knowledge into current construction methods and building processes, aimed at both conservation, upgrading, and new construction. Additionally, students will be able to design constructive and aesthetic projects based on wood materials.
Learning Methods and Activities
The course consists of lectures, project work, and assignments. There will be up to 3 compulsory seminar days, either on campus or excursion. Students are required to use a private PC suitable for 3D-modelling, and free software will be provided. In cases where there are less than 6 students, the course may be arranged as a guided self-study through a digital learning platform.
Compulsory Assignments

- A total of 6 mandatory assignments must be approved to access the final exam assessment.
Evaluation
The course evaluation consists of:
- One final, major exam assignment.
- Up to 6 mandatory assignments that must be approved to access the final exam assessment.
- Compulsory seminar days will be specified at course startup.
