Course Overview
The course "Computeraided Modelling and Simulation" is offered with the course code MASA2312. It is a third-year course, level III, with 7.5 credits. Course Content
The subject is naturally divided into two parts: a modeling part and an analysis part.

- Data format and data exchange

- Analysis:
- Problem formulation and modeling technique
- Element method
- Element types: Beam, shell, and solid elements
- Border conditions
- Load attachment
- Verification, reporting, and presentation of results
Learning Outcome
Knowledge
The candidate will have:
- General knowledge of 3D modeling
- Knowledge of the theoretical basis for data-assisted calculation methods
- Knowledge of the scope and limitations of such calculation methods
Skills
The candidate will be able to:
- Use relevant computer software for 3D modeling
- Use relevant computer programs for sizing
- Use relevant computer programs for documenting and reporting analyzes
General Competence
The candidate will be able to:
- Plan and execute design and dimensioning using computer programs
- Have insight into the advantages and disadvantages of various data-assisted calculation methods

The course includes lectures, exercises, and project work.

Evaluation
The evaluation is based on a folder assessment (60%) containing a set of mandatory exercises. The portfolio must be passed to be eligible for an oral examination (40%). A new or postponed exam will be held the following semester.
