Introduction to Social Psychology
The course PSYK4127, Introduction to Social Psychology, is a foundation course at level I, worth 7.5 credits. It is scheduled to start in the autumn of 2025 and will run for one semester. The language of instruction is Norwegian, and the course will be held in Trondheim.

Course Content
This introductory course in social psychology explores how people's thoughts, feelings, and behavior are influenced by the actual or imagined presence of others. Major theoretical perspectives in social psychology, including sociocultural, evolutionary, social learning, and social cognitive, are covered to describe and explain social behavior.
Learning Outcome
- Knowledge: Students will develop a basic overview of central perspectives in social psychology and obtain knowledge of specific research fields, including how we think about ourselves and the social world, attitudes, social influences, cooperation and function in groups, prejudices, discrimination, conflicts, friendships, love, prosocial, and aggressive behavior.
- Skills: Students will be able to account for and discuss how social behavior and cognitions can be explained from different perspectives in social psychology.
- General Competence: Students will develop an understanding of how to study people in social situations and how different social factors influence people's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Learning Methods and Activities
The course includes lectures (2 hours per week) and study groups.

Admission to a program of study is required, specifically the Clinical Psychology Programme (CPSYR).
