Course Description
The course is part of the full-time, post graduate teacher training programme (PPU). Together with the courses in pedagogy and subject didactics, this course provides the basis for teaching grades 5-13. Supervised practice is an integral part of the program; thus, the course content focuses on a holistic approach to teaching, and is comprised by a connection between pedagogy, subject didactics, and practical training.

Learning Outcomes
The student will be able to:
- exercise effective class leadership in an inclusive learning community in order to promote equality and academic/social learning and development
- build relationships between the students and between the teacher and the student, and collaborate with all students, guardians, colleagues and other actors relevant to the school system
- plan and implement practical and varied teaching based on research and experience-based knowledge
- evaluate the pupils' learning and academic development in light of relevant curricula and professional ethical perspectives
- document students' learning and provide learning-promoting feedback that helps the pupils reflect on their own learning
- adapt teaching according to current curricula and legislation, and motivate for pupils/apprentices' learning and development
- identify specific needs of students, including identifying signs of violence or sexual abuse, and quickly take appropriate action on the basis of professional judgment and in collaboration with the best interests of the student
- act professionally and critically reflect on their own development, academic, subject didactic and ethical issues
- has a professional student view and can realize the school's community values in line with the school's community mandate
- recognize the value of organizational work, team work, and school-home collaboration
- initiate and carry out R&D projects in collaboration with the educational institution and the practice school
Learning Methods and Activities
In order to realize the objectives of the course, an interaction between practice experiences, acquisition of relevant theories, concepts and reflection is required. The practical training in teacher education spans over two semesters. Normally, the practice is discontinued with 6 weeks in the autumn semester and 8 weeks in the spring semester.

Evaluation
The final assessment in the course is a comprehensive assessment of the teaching practice related to learning objectives, which includes associated practice reports, practice follow-up and compulsory activities. The practice teachers and follow-up teachers write reports, all of which must be approved in order to receive a "Pass" in the course.
