Course Content
The course is divided into two primary components:

Learning Methods and Activities
The course employs a combination of lectures, seminars, and group sessions over approximately 12 weeks. Active participation is expected, including presenting or discussing articles, analyses, or other course-related material. The teaching is conducted in cooperation with the University of Bergen (UiB) as an online course. A 75% mandatory attendance policy is in place, with provisions for exemption in special cases.
Compulsory Assignments
- Assignment in Grammar: One assignment must be approved to be eligible for the exam.
- Attendance: 75% attendance in all teaching activities is mandatory.
Evaluation
The course concludes with a home exam on a given topic, to be completed within 3 weeks. The exam paper covers both French grammar and the variable linguistics topic, with a recommended length of about 4000 words. The grade distribution is 2/3 for grammar and 1/3 for linguistics.
Recommended Previous Knowledge
Students are expected to have completed FRA1000- and FRA2000-level courses or equivalent.
