Master of Science in Physical Activity and Health
The Master of Science in Physical Activity and Health is a two-year, full-time program that provides students with the competence to contribute to better health in society and as an expert in sports.
Program Overview
The program offers a comprehensive understanding of physical activity and exercise, and their role in enhancing health, physical function, and performance. Students will learn about scientific principles that govern physical activity and physical function, and how to enhance these in various contexts.
What Will You Learn?
The program covers topics such as:
- Scientific principles of physical activity and physical function
- Optimization of health, performance, and function through strength and endurance training
- Physiological functioning and movement techniques
- Practical experience in conducting movement analyses and physiological tests in laboratories and in the field using portable technology
Specializations
Students can choose to specialize in either:
- Exercise Physiology
- Movement Science
Program Structure
The program consists of:
- First year: eight courses (60 ECTS credits)
- Second year: master's thesis (60 ECTS credits)
- The first semester consists of four compulsory courses common to both specializations
- The second semester consists of one elective course and three compulsory courses
- The third and fourth semesters are devoted to thesis work
Admission
- The program is closed to new applicants
- Previously, there were 40 places available, with 20 places in each specialization
- Requirements for admission included an average grade of C or better
- Admission was restricted, and a limited number of students were accepted
Tuition Fees
- Tuition fees were charged to international students with citizenship from outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland
- The Master's program in Physical Activity and Health was categorized as category D
