Comparative Literature
Program Overview
Comparative Literature (Master's Programme)
The language of instruction in this programme is Norwegian.
Programme Description
Comparative Studies of Literature explores and provides knowledge on the Western literary tradition from Antiquity until today. The two-year Master's programme provides a deeper insight into selected parts of world literature, at the same time as it focuses on literary theory and methods as well as aesthetics and scholarly working methods.
Comparative Aspect
Comparative Studies of Literature is a comparative field of study. Literary works can never be interpreted independently, but must be understood in dialogue with other pieces of work. This comparative aspect does not only include literature; the study of literary texts in connection with other art forms such as visual art, film, and music is also explored.
Research Areas
The research staff participates in several interdisciplinary research projects - both national and international - such as the 18th century, aesthetic technologies, globalization, and heteronormativity.
