Annotation

The study program enables students to delve into the problems of aesthetics and art theory, gaining comprehensive education in this specific area. The core subjects include the history of aesthetics and aesthetic theory. In addition, students acquire knowledge of literary, visual, and musical arts, including their theory and aesthetics.

A wide range of elective courses is available, allowing students to focus on various areas, such as axiology, comparative art studies, theory and history of dramatic arts, and many others. This broad scope provides students with theoretical knowledge and the ability to analyze, interpret, and critically evaluate artistic works and cultural phenomena.

During their bachelor's studies, students have the opportunity to participate in study stays through European mobility support programs such as Erasmus+ and CEEPUS, as well as programs offered by the SAIA agency.

Career Prospects for Graduates

Thanks to the broad scope and interdisciplinary approach, the Estetika study program prepares students for a variety of career opportunities. Graduates can pursue careers in publicism, reviewing, and other activities related to cultural and artistic events. They can also work in galleries, media, or as teachers of aesthetic and art education at secondary schools (after obtaining pedagogical approval). Furthermore, graduates can find employment in scientific and academic institutions.

Graduates can also continue their studies at the master's level, either in the Estetika study program or in related master's study programs.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the Estetika study program, applicants must have completed secondary education with a maturity exam. A verified copy of the document confirming completed secondary education is a mandatory attachment to the application. If the applicant has not completed their secondary education at the time of application, they must submit the document as soon as it is obtained, but no later than the day of enrollment.

Applicants are admitted based on a test of general study prerequisites (VP, OSP, GAP; Scio company website).

Additional Information

In one application, students can list up to two study programs in order of preference. If the student meets the admission requirements for both study programs, they will be admitted to the program listed first in the application.

Information about the admission procedure and important deadlines can be found on the university's website (general information about the admission procedure).

Conditions for Foreign Students

Foreign students whose mother tongue is not Slovak are welcome to apply. However, please note that a prerequisite for successful completion of the study is knowledge of the Slovak language at least at the B1 level (according to CEFR).

The university also draws attention to courses offered by Studia Academica Slovaca.

Successful foreign applicants must submit a document about their education along with a recognition certificate of the education level from the MVVaM SR portal or (if the certificate is not available on the portal) a decision of the regional school authority in the SR on the equivalence of the education document, no later than the day of enrollment.
