Annotation
The Department of Pedagogy at the Faculty of Philosophy, Comenius University in Bratislava, is the oldest institution in the field of pedagogy and teacher education in academic subjects in Slovakia. The Bachelor's study provides foundations in pedagogical sciences, including general pedagogy, theory of education, didactics, history of pedagogy, social pedagogy, and pedagogy of the 20th century, as well as insights from related philosophical, sociological, and psychological disciplines. Upon completing the Bachelor's degree, graduates acquire prerequisites for work in the field of education and upbringing. After successfully completing the Bachelor's degree, students can also continue with Master's studies in the Pedagogy study program or in the study of Information Studies, Political Science, or Religious Studies.

Graduates can find employment in the areas of education and upbringing, social work, research, counseling, state administration, institutions of the third sector, and other areas where education, care, and support for people are necessary.
Admission Requirements
The condition for admission is completed secondary education with a maturity exam. A verified copy of the document on completed secondary education is a mandatory attachment to the application. If the applicant does not have completed secondary education at the time of application, the document must be submitted as soon as it is obtained, but no later than the day of enrollment in the study.
Applicants are admitted based on a test of general study prerequisites. If applicants participated in student professional activities during their secondary school studies, they can be admitted without an entrance examination.
Additional Information
In one application for study, applicants can list up to two study programs in order of their interest. If applicants meet the conditions for admission to both study programs, they will be admitted to the study program listed first in the application.
Applicants whose mother tongue is not Slovak are welcome. However, they must consider that the prerequisite for successful completion of the study is knowledge of the Slovak language at least at the B1 level (according to CEFR).
Successful applicants from abroad and persons who graduated abroad (including those with Slovak citizenship) must submit a document on education along with a certificate of recognition of the degree of education from the portal of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport of the Slovak Republic or (if the certificate is not available on the portal) a decision of the regional school authority in the Slovak Republic on the equivalence of the document on education.
