Faculty of Philosophy
The Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Komensky in Bratislava offers a combined teacher training program in English language and literature and Hungarian language and literature.
Program Description
The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in two languages and cultures, enhancing their future career prospects. The program includes pedagogical and psychological disciplines related to the teaching profession, as well as didactics of the respective subjects.
English Language and Literature
The teacher training program in English language and literature focuses on developing students' communication skills in English at the C1 level (CEFR) and providing them with a broad knowledge of literature, culture, history, and realities of English-speaking countries.
Hungarian Language and Literature
The program in Hungarian language and literature has a long tradition at the Faculty of Philosophy. It covers subjects related to the structure, rules, and functioning of the Hungarian language, as well as Hungarian literature and its history.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the program, applicants must have completed secondary education with a maturity exam. The application must include a verified copy of the document confirming completed secondary education. Applicants whose mother tongue is not Slovak are welcome to apply, but they must have a good command of the Slovak language at the B1 level (CEFR).
Admission Criteria
Applicants are accepted based on tests administered by the company Scio, including a test of general study prerequisites and a test of English language proficiency. Applicants who have participated in the regional or national round of the English Language and Literature Olympiad or the Szép magyar beszéd (Beautiful Hungarian Speech) competition and have placed first, second, or third may be exempt from taking the respective test.
Career Prospects
Graduates of the program can pursue a career in teaching or other fields, both in the public and private sectors. They can also continue their studies at the master's level in the same combination of subjects.

Applicants can list up to two study programs in their application, in order of preference. If they meet the admission requirements for both programs, they will be accepted into the program listed first. International Students
International students are welcome to apply. However, they must have a good command of the Slovak language at the B1 level (CEFR). The university offers courses in Slovak language and culture for international students. Successful applicants from abroad must submit a document confirming their education, along with a recognition certificate from the Ministry of Education, Science, Research, and Sport of the Slovak Republic or a decision on the equivalence of their educational document from the regional school authority in Slovakia.
