Medical biology and clinical genetics
Program Overview
Program Overview
The Lekárska biológia a klinická genetika (Medical Biology and Clinical Genetics) program is a doctoral study program offered by the Lekárska fakulta (Medical Faculty) of Univerzita Komenského (Comenius University) in Bratislava.
Program Details
Program Description
The program focuses on the study of cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the regulation of basic processes ensuring cell growth, differentiation, and reproduction, as well as their disorders leading to pathological conditions. Students will acquire knowledge in medical biology, molecular genetics, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and clinical genetics, with a focus on the mechanisms and pathological processes occurring in the human body.
Program Objectives
The main objective of the program is to provide students with a deep understanding of the biological and molecular basis of human diseases, as well as the skills to formulate scientific problems, design and conduct experiments, and analyze and interpret results.
Program Structure
The program is designed to be completed in four years (full-time) or five years (part-time). The standard length of study is expressed in academic years.
Academic Title
Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded the title of "doktor" (philosophiae doctor, abbreviated as PhD).
Language of Instruction
The program is conducted in Slovak and English.
