Profile of the Graduate and Education Objectives
The education objectives of the doctoral study program in Medical Microbiology and Immunology include the study of mechanisms of resistance to antimicrobial agents, various therapeutic equivalents, and the study of immunogenetic predisposition and immunopathogenesis of infectious and non-infectious diseases. The program aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of medical microbiology, molecular genetics, and immunology, as well as the ability to analyze and interpret data, and to publish and present research results.
Employability of Graduates
Graduates of the program are in demand in various fields, including:
- Healthcare institutions (clinics or departments of clinical microbiology and immunology, laboratory medicine workplaces)
- Education sector (as university teachers or research workers at universities focused on medicine, healthcare sciences, public health, and biology)
- Research institutions (with the possibility of obtaining a scientific-pedagogical degree of docent and professor)
- Pharmaceutical industry
Graduates of the program will be able to analyze human biological samples in research and diagnostic work, diagnose infectious diseases, and differentiate between various diseases. They will also be able to study samples of blood, cerebrospinal fluid, bronchoalveolar fluid, and pleural fluid, as well as tissue samples from tumors, and analyze various humoral factors.
Quality Assessment of the Study Program by Employers
The quality of the study program has been assessed by various employers, including Medirex, s.r.o., the Department of Clinical Immunology and Allergology at the University Hospital in Martin, and the Microbiological Institute at the University Hospital in Bratislava. These employers have expressed a positive opinion on the quality of the program and support its establishment.
