Sports Massage Advanced
Course Overview
This practical course builds on the skills acquired in the Sports Massage course, covering common presenting injuries, basic muscle testing, trigger point work, and myofascial release. Students will be introduced to more advanced massage techniques, with an emphasis on an athlete's tissue repair, pain relief, and performance.

- Dealing with damaged tissue
- Frictional technique
- Basic muscle testing
- Trigger point therapy
- Myofascial release
Credits
Students receive 11 REPS CEC credits for attending this course.
Prerequisite
AUT's Sports Massage course or an acceptable equivalent qualification.
Lecturer Profile
Mandy Crawford graduated as top student in both the Diploma of Sports Massage and Bachelor of Health Studies in Neuromuscular Therapy. Mandy has worked with a variety of elite athletes, including the World Netball and Sailing Championships, NZ Football, Black Ferns, NZ Warriors, Brisbane Broncos, and most recently with the English and Argentinean teams at the Rugby World Cup.
