Introduction to the AUT English Pathway Programme

The AUT English Pathway Programme (AUTEPP) is designed for individuals with an intermediate level of English or above. This program allows students to study English language and enroll in an AUT Academic English Course (AUT AE) or IELTS Preparation Course at AUT in Auckland's central business district.

AUT Academic English Course (AUT AE)

The AUT Academic English Course offers a direct path for students with a conditional offer from AUT for most undergraduate or postgraduate studies. This course develops essential academic skills needed to succeed in AUT programs. Meeting the academic requirements for the chosen AUT program remains essential.

    • 24 March 2025 - 13 June 2025
    • 1 July 2025 - 3 October 2025
    • 6 October 2025 - 23 January 2026
  • 2026 dates:
    • 16 February 2026 - 15 May 2026
    • 2 June 2026 - 28 August 2026
    • 7 September 2026 - 18 December 2026
• Course dates are subject to change.
• Note: The term from October to January includes a three-week break over the summer holiday period when AUT closes for the Christmas and New Year holiday period.

Course Length and Fees

• Duration of the AUT Academic English Course: 3 months (full-time, 23 hours per week)
• Fees and costs for 2025:
  • AUT Academic English Course (12 weeks): NZ $6,900.00
  • Insurance:
    • January and July intakes (12 weeks): NZ $297.00
    • October intake (12 weeks plus Christmas New Year break): NZ $285.00
  • Fees for 3 months: NZ $7,200.00
  • Insurance: NZ $224.75
• Fees include:
  • AUT student association membership
  • GST (Government Goods and Services Tax)
  • AUT student ID card
  • Student services levy

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the AUT Academic English Course, students need to have:

• A minimum 5.5 IELTS overall score
• 5.5 in both Reading & Writing
• 5.0 in Listening & Speaking
• Or an equivalent English Proficiency Test Note: Some health and education programs require IELTS, and students can apply to the IELTS preparation course.
