Specialisation Options
While formal specialisations are not offered, leadership and policy making are embedded in the courses. The applied learning approach allows students to apply what they learn directly to their professional context, building practical skills and insights in these areas.
Theory and Practice
The programme ensures that theory and practice go hand in hand, with lecturers bringing real-world experience into the classroom. Students will understand the 'how' and feel confident applying it in their own work and context.
Assessments
Each course includes two assignments with a focus on being reflective and practical. There are no exams or tests, just meaningful work that connects directly to students' professional lives.
Collaboration and Group Work
About 30% of assessments will involve group work, giving students a chance to collaborate with their peers and build valuable teamwork skills alongside independent study.
Fees and Payment
The total cost of the programme is $14,787.40, which includes tuition fees and the student services levy.
Support and Flexibility
As an online learner, students will have access to lecturers via email and online chat, as well as a dedicated team of student success advisors available 7 days a week. Students will also enjoy the same support services as on-campus students, including access to academic workshops delivered online through the AUT library.
Networking Opportunities
The programme offers rich, built-in networking opportunities through close engagement with the cohort and experienced academics. Students will grow within a supportive, connected learning community where mentoring, collaboration, and professional relationships extend well beyond the classroom.
Taking a Break from Study
Students can take a break from their study if needed, with the programme enabling them to take a break for a trimester. With part-time study, students have up to four years to complete the Master of Educational Leadership, giving them the flexibility to study at their own pace.
Exit Options
The programme is designed to be flexible and stackable, allowing students to complete a postgraduate certificate and seamlessly transfer into a full Master of Educational Leadership without any additional time added to their overall student journey. If students decide to exit early and have completed two of the six educational leadership courses, they can choose to graduate with a Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Leadership.
