Introduction to the DIU Coordination Gťrontologique Program

The DIU Coordination Gťrontologique is a university program offered by the Unitť Mixte de Dťveloppement Professionnel Continu Santť (UMDPCS). This program is designed to provide medical professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to coordinate gerontological care.

Program Overview

The DIU Coordination Gťrontologique program is a one-year course that is part of a new two-year curriculum. The program is offered in alternation with the DIU Mťdecine de la Personne ¬gťe, with the DIU Coordination Gťrontologique being offered every even year and the DIU Mťdecine de la Personne ¬gťe being offered every odd year.

Objectives of the Program

The objectives of the DIU Coordination Gťrontologique program are to provide medical professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to:

• Ensure the role of coordinator of gerontological care
• Develop clinical, managerial, and ethical skills
• Coordinate care for elderly patients
• Evaluate and validate the state of dependence of residents and their care needs
• Apply good gerontological practices
• Coordinate the realization of a gerontological assessment
• Contribute to the implementation of a training policy
• Elaborate a care project
• Coordinate the annual activity report

Target Audience

The target audience for the DIU Coordination Gťrontologique program is medical professionals who have a project to work in gerontology or with elderly patients, preferably in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comtť region.

Prerequisites

The prerequisites for the DIU Coordination Gťrontologique program are:

• Being a holder of the DIU Mťdecine de la Personne ¬gťe
• Being a holder of a state diploma of Doctor of Medicine and being able to practice medicine in France
• For practitioners with a diploma outside the European Union, being a laureate of the verification of knowledge test (EVC) in the context of the access procedure (PAE)

Program Organization

The DIU Coordination Gťrontologique program is organized into:

• 133 hours of teaching over one academic year
• 70 hours of distance learning (e-learning)
• 63 hours of face-to-face teaching (9 days of 7 hours) divided between the UFR Sciences de Santť in Dijon and the UFR de Mťdecine in BesanÁon
• 2 hours for the final exam

Program Content

The program content includes:

• Theoretical teachings: 70 hours on the platform and 130 hours of personal work
• Face-to-face teachings: cognitive teachings, case studies, and thematic seminars
• Practical stages: 20 half-days, including at least half in an EHPAD and the other half in a territorial gerontological device

Validation of the Program

The validation of the program is based on:

• Attendance: participation in all face-to-face teachings is mandatory
• Theoretical validation: validation of the e-learning module, with a score of 100% on the QRM evaluations and 100% of the feedback
• Practical validation: realization of a memoir on a complex authentic situation, a quality approach, or an innovative professional project
• Oral presentation of the memoir in front of a jury
