Overview of the Program

The UMDPCS offers a program in Continuing Education for healthcare professionals, specifically the DIU Qualification for General Medicine (QEMG).

DIU Qualification for the practice of General Medicine (QEMG)

Program Description

The DIU QEMG program is designed to provide healthcare professionals with the necessary skills and knowledge to qualify for the practice of general medicine. The program consists of two phases: a probationary phase and a qualifying phase.

Presentation

The program allows participants to upgrade their skills in view of a qualification by the medical council. It includes two parts:

• A probatory phase that targets needs through a competency assessment and remediation. Validation of this first part is mandatory to access the qualifying training.
• A qualifying training (DIU) that consists of an individualized course set up after the probationary phase. It includes a faculty teaching module and a general medicine internship module.

Training objectives

• Acquire or upgrade the necessary skills for the practice of general medicine in an ambulatory setting.
• Obtain the qualification of a general medicine specialist for the practice of the discipline as defined in Article L 4130-1 of the Public Health Code.

Educational organization

• Probationary phase: 80 hours of teaching over 6 weeks, including theoretical and practical training.
• Qualifying training (DIU): 720 hours of training over 8 months maximum, including theoretical and practical training.

Content

• Probationary phase: A module aimed at evaluating competencies in general medicine, including diagnostic pedagogy, prescriptive pedagogy, and self-evaluation.
• Qualifying training (DIU): A module of internships in general medicine and a module of faculty teaching.

Training validation

Each phase is evaluated by a pedagogical commission of the DMG. The validation includes:

• For the probationary phase: evaluation based on the internship report, the candidate's logbook, and the evaluation of the MSU.
• For the qualifying training (DIU): self-evaluation, validation of internships, validation of faculty teaching, and defense of a thesis.

Public

The program is intended for:

• Doctors with a diploma qualified or having a specialty in general medicine who have exercised a non-medical activity or a different activity from general medicine, or who have ceased a general medicine activity for more than three years.
• Doctors who have passed the hospital competition for general medicine and wish to reorient themselves towards ambulatory general medicine.
• Foreign doctors with a diploma equivalence without competence equivalence or entering the framework of the Exercise Authorization Procedure.

Selection

The selection process includes:

• Online application with a CV, a letter of motivation, and a reflection on training needs.
• A prior ordinal opinion concerning the steps to be taken for an exercise authorization.
• A limited number of participants (two per year).
• Deadline for application: April 15th.
• Pre-selection on file: systematic response by the end of May.
• Final selection: pre-selected candidates are agreed for an interview with the DMG pedagogical commission.

Calendar

• Probationary phase: between August and October.
• Qualifying training (DIU): start on November 1st or April 1st of the following year.

Price

• Probationary phase: 1500.
• Qualifying training (DIU): 7200 + administrative fees (voted each year by the university).
