Admission Requirements

• Students should possess a Grade 12 certificate or an equivalent qualification.

Purpose Statement

The purpose of this short learning programme is to:

• Provide relevant information that leads to a greater understanding of issues pertaining to inclusion and disability.
• Use the increased understanding to improve service provision for students with disabilities.
• Promote the development and implementation of inclusive teaching and learning policies and practices that respond to the needs of these students.

CSIIED1 - Understanding Disability

• The following knowledge is embedded within the module and will be assessed in accordance with the specific outcomes and assessment criteria:
  • The main models of disability.
  • Definitions of disability in line with the models of disability.
  • The broad legislative and policy framework.
  • The role of disability awareness and advocacy in promoting the rights of students with disabilities.
  • Implementing the transformation principles.

CSIIED2 - Inclusive Teaching and Learning
