Master's & Doctoral Degrees
The Master's and Doctoral degrees offered by the university are designed to provide advanced knowledge and skills in specific fields of study. These degrees are structured over a defined period and require students to complete a dissertation or research project on an approved topic.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to a Master's or Doctoral degree program, students must meet the following requirements:
- An appropriate Bachelor's or Honours degree with a minimum average of 60%
- A Postgraduate Diploma with a minimum average of 60%
- Students with foreign qualifications must have their qualifications evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA)
- Applicants must submit a transcript or academic record, as well as a document describing their intended research
- Students will be accepted based on the suitability and viability of their intended research, adequate supervisory capacity and research expertise in the discipline or department, and an approved selection procedure
Student Fees and Funding
The application fee for Master's and Doctoral degrees is R150.00, which is non-refundable. Student fees for the 2025 academic year are available on the university's website. Students can also apply for funding or bursaries to support their studies.
Application for Admission
Applications for Master's and Doctoral degrees are open until 19 December 2025. Students must apply for a student number and admission during this period and upload all supporting documents within 10 working days.
Registration
Only students whose application for admission was approved and re-registering students who made sufficient progress during the current academic year will be allowed to register online within the approved registration period for the 2026 academic year.
Curriculum
The curriculum for Master's and Doctoral degrees includes a dissertation or research project on an approved topic. Students must register for the research proposal module and await official approval before re-registering for the next academic year.
Master of Education in Educational Management
The Master of Education in Educational Management is a post-graduate qualification that aims to provide advanced knowledge and skills in educational management.
Purpose Statement
The purpose of the Master of Education in Educational Management is to provide qualifiers with advanced knowledge in some aspect or sub-field of education and to accredit candidates who demonstrate the capacity to undertake well-founded and independent inquiry in a field of education, training, and development.

Time Limits for the Degree
