Diploma in Explosives Management

Purpose Statement
This qualification provides an initial learning progression path in recognized national and international standards of professional explosives management processes and practices to achieve applied competence at levels defined by relevant legislation governing the explosives industry and certification standards of explosives managers set by the Department of Labour.

Admission Requirements
Admission to the university is dependent on meeting the specific admission requirements for the chosen qualification. Pre-approval is required, and selection will be based on proof of current employment in the explosives industry and meeting the college admission requirements, which include:
- A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with at least 50% in the language of teaching and learning and with at least 40% in Mathematics or at least 70% for Mathematical Literacy
- A Senior Certificate (SC) with at least a D symbol on HG or a C symbol on SG in the language of teaching and learning and with at least an E symbol on HG or D symbol on SG in Mathematics
- Any Higher Certificate obtained in the College of Economic and Management Sciences
- Applicants who would like to apply for admission through recognition of prior learning (RPL) must be at least 30 years old, have completed at least Grade 10, and have at least five years' relevant work experience in the study field

Application for Admission
Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2026 academic year can be submitted online between 3 November and 19 December 2025. Admission to a qualification is not automatic and will depend on whether the applicant complies with the admission requirements and if space is available.
