Purpose Statement
The primary purpose of the Bachelor of Commerce qualification is to provide qualifiers with graduate-level knowledge, specific skills, applied competence, and the necessary attitudes in the fields associated with commerce and industry. This prepares them to be lifelong learners, employable workers/entrepreneurs, and contributors to society and the business community.
Admission Requirements
Admission to the Bachelor of Commerce qualification requires:
- A National Senior Certificate (NSC) (Degree endorsement) with at least 50% in the language of teaching and learning and with at least 50% in Mathematics
- A Senior Certificate (SC) with matriculation exemption (or qualify for the exemption from the Matriculation Board) and with at least a D symbol on HG or a C symbol on SG in the language of teaching and learning and with at least a D symbol on HG or a C symbol on SG in Mathematics
- Any completed Higher Certificate offered in the College of Economic and Management Sciences
- Any Diploma obtained in the College of Economic and Management Sciences
- Applicants who do not meet the admission requirements should apply for a lower NQF level qualification for which they meet the statutory and additional requirements
- Applicants who would like to apply for admission through recognition of prior learning (RPL) must be at least 30 years old, have completed at least Grade 10, and have at least five years' relevant work experience in the study field in which they would like to apply for admission to a qualification

- Application fee: R150 for online applications

Apply for Admission
Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2026 academic year must be submitted online between 3 November and 19 December 2025.
Registration
Unisa will send the necessary information about registration dates and the registration process to all successful applicants who have confirmed their acceptance of Unisa's offer.
