Introduction to the Bachelor of Education in Senior Phase and Further Education and Training

The Bachelor of Education in Senior Phase and Further Education and Training is a comprehensive qualification designed to develop qualified classroom teachers. This program aims to foster self-reflexivity, professional disposition, and the ability to organize learning among diverse learners.

Purpose Statement

Admission Requirements

Admission to Unisa is dependent on meeting the specific admission requirements for the chosen qualification. The requirements include:

• A National Senior Certificate (NSC) (Degree endorsement) with at least 50% in the language of teaching and learning and 50% in Mathematics
• Alternatively, a Senior Certificate (SC) with matriculation exemption or qualification for exemption from the Matriculation Board with specific symbols in the language of teaching and learning and Mathematics
• Applicants may also apply through recognition of prior learning (RPL) if they are at least 23 years old, have completed at least Grade 10, and have at least five years of relevant teaching experience

Application for Admission

Curriculum

The curriculum includes modules with work-integrated learning components, requiring students to spend time away from home to gain industry exposure. The program provides a minimum of 20 weeks and a maximum of 32 weeks in supervised and assessed school-based practice.
