The Bachelor of Education in Senior Phase and Further Education and Training is a comprehensive qualification designed to develop qualified classroom teachers. Purpose Statement
The purpose of this qualification is to produce teachers who can demonstrate focused knowledge and skills in the teaching of particular specializations. It aims to develop students as active citizens, enable them to develop the disposition of citizenship in their learners, and promote the organization of learning among diverse learners in various contexts.

Admission Requirements
Admission to the Bachelor of Education in Senior Phase and Further Education and Training requires:
- A National Senior Certificate (NSC) (Degree endorsement) with at least 50% in the language of teaching and learning and at least 50% in Mathematics
- Alternatively, a Senior Certificate (SC) with matriculation exemption with at least a D symbol on HG or a C symbol on SG in the language of teaching and learning and with at least a D symbol on HG in Mathematics
- Applicants may also qualify for admission through recognition of prior learning (RPL) if they are at least 23 years old, have completed at least Grade 10, and have at least five years of relevant teaching experience

Application for Admission
Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications for the 2026 academic year must be submitted online between 3 November and 19 December 2025. Admission is not automatic and depends on meeting the admission requirements and availability of space.
Registration
Successful applicants will receive information about registration dates and the registration process from Unisa.
Curriculum
The curriculum includes modules with work-integrated learning components, requiring students to spend time away from home and responsibilities to gain industry exposure. The program culminates in a minimum of 20 weeks and a maximum of 32 weeks in supervised and assessed school-based practice.
