Bachelor of Social Work
Purpose Statement
The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) qualification is designed to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills, and values to act as advocates and catalysts for social change. The qualification will enable graduates to address social inequality, exclusion, poverty, and marginalization through evidence-based interventions.

Admission Requirements
Admission to the BSW qualification requires:
- A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with Degree endorsement and a minimum of 60% for English and 60% for four content subjects
- A Senior Certificate (SC) with matriculation exemption or a qualification for exemption from the Matriculation Board
- A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with degree endorsement or a Senior Certificate with exemption and a Certificate in Social Auxiliary Work (NQF Level 4) with one year of professional practice
- A relevant Higher Certificate at NQF level 5
Applicants will also be subjected to a police clearance for criminal convictions checks and must submit two testimonials from credible sources.

Application for Admission
Applications for admission to undergraduate qualifications can be submitted online between 3 November and 19 December 2025.
