Purpose Statement

This qualification is designed for individuals functioning predominantly at the tactical level within the Correctional Services environment. Graduates will demonstrate competence in applying selected integrated legal, administrative, and managerial principles and techniques within the context of Correctional Services Management. They will be adept at supporting and implementing strategies, policies, and procedures while addressing contemporary issues effectively at a tactical level. The qualification will be delivered through a combination of online and distance learning modalities.


Rules

  • Students are required to have access to a computer, printer, and the internet during their studies.
  • Some of the prerequisites and/or co-requisites outlined in this qualification may not apply as they do not form part of the curriculum.
  • Students who have passed phased-out modules will retain their credits and are not required to pass the replacement modules. However, credit is only retained if the phased-out modules were specifically passed for this qualification.
  • Specific modules have been replaced, such as EUP1501 with CMY1501 and SCK1501 with BSW1501, among others.

Who Can Register?

  • Applicants: New applicants and current Unisa students who applied for admission to a new qualification may only register upon receiving and accepting an offer of placement from Unisa.
  • Re-registering Students: May register for the academic year once the registration period opens. Students wishing to start a new qualification must apply online for the alternative qualification during the prescribed application period.
