  • Purpose: The purpose of this module is to give students an appreciation of the various design decisions and the key steps involved in carrying out a process design.
  • Students will learn how to prepare and present process flow diagrams and other necessary documentation necessary for design.
  • Students will learn to select, size and estimate the cost of typical chemical engineering equipment.
  • Students will also learn how to estimate the capital and operating costs of the plant and will also be introduced to methods used for economic evaluation of projects.
  • Students will also be made aware of the environmental issues and safety aspects related to the design of processes.
  • This module is part of the Diploma in Chemical Engineering.
