- Purpose: The purpose of this module is to equip and expose students to the ecological way of thinking and to apply this way of thinking to their living circumstances, and to different contexts.
- Module description: The module is designed to introduce students to the epistemological shifts from modernism, to postmodernism; and the shift from individual psychology theories, to systemic and cybernetic psychology theories. In addition, students will be introduced to first and second order cybernetic concepts and learn how to apply these theories and concepts in the field of psychology. Students should also be able to compare and contrast the different epistemological paradigms, and to describe and discuss these epistemologies in different contexts, integrating both ecosystemic theory and African perspectives to different contexts.
