Introduction to Harbin Engineering University International Short Term Program
The Harbin Engineering University International Short Term Program aims to build a global, standardized, and innovative curriculum framework. This program welcomes university students from around the world, promoting academic exchange and cooperation between leading Chinese institutions and globally renowned universities. With a focus on cultivating international talents, the program helps students broaden their global perspectives, engage in intercultural communication, and enhance their academic and language capabilities.
Program Overview
The program is offered twice a year, typically in DecemberJanuary and JuneJuly. Harbin Engineering University is a key university directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and it is also a university co-constructed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Education, Heilongjiang Province, Harbin City, and the Navy. The university is committed to high-level international cooperation and is a high-level research university in the field of shipbuilding, marine engineering, and nuclear energy.
Program Application
To apply for the program, students should follow these steps:
- Before applying, consult your university's Study Abroad Office, Registrar's Office, or Department Advisor regarding the credit transfer process and obtain the necessary forms.
- Select courses from the HEU course list, complete the credit transfer application with your home university, and obtain the credit transfer pre-approval.
- Submit the application form, credit transfer pre-approval, and required documents to the designated HEU program email. The review process takes approximately 5 working days.
- After approval, you will receive the official admission letter and complete the payment and registration process.
- Upon successful course completion, HEU will issue a certificate and transcript to the student or their home university within two weeks.
Program Curriculum
The short-term program lasts for 34 weeks and is held at HEU's campus in Harbin. The curriculum covers fields such as Engineering, Science, Business, and Culture. Courses are designed by professors from HEU and other leading universities to meet international academic and teaching standards.
Teaching Activities
Courses are delivered in English, five days a week, combining lectures, group discussions, and assessments.
Extracurricular Activities
In addition to coursework, students will participate in cultural experiences and industry visits to leading enterprises and research institutes in Harbin or nearby cities, gaining insight into China's development and innovation.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the program, students must:
- Be international undergraduate or graduate students aged 18 or above.
- Have credit transfer preapproval from the home university.
- Have adequate English proficiency, as all courses are taught in English.

Accommodation
HEU offers on-campus student housing and can recommend nearby hotels for students. Due to limited availability, early reservations are encouraged.
