Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Paramedicine

The Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Paramedicine is a double degree that combines the skills and knowledge of both nursing and paramedicine. This course is designed to produce adaptable, safe, and ethical professionals who can work in a variety of healthcare environments.


Overview

In this double degree, students will gain the skills and knowledge needed to become both a registered nurse and a registered paramedic. The course focuses on producing professionals who are motivated to improve communities by providing compassionate primary, urgent, and emergency healthcare in dynamic environments.


Professional Experience

Clinical experience forms an integral part of the course, with students undertaking six units of nursing practice and three units of paramedicine practice in various healthcare environments.


Professional Recognition

Eligible graduates can apply for registration as a nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) and as a paramedic with the Paramedicine Board of Australia (ParaBA).


Accreditation

The Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Paramedicine is accredited with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and the Paramedicine Accreditation Committee.

Course Details

To complete the Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Paramedicine, students must complete 320 credit points. The course structure includes interdisciplinary learning units, nursing theory units, clinical nursing practice units, paramedicine theory units, and paramedicine practice units.


Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission, applicants must have completed the required prerequisites at year 12 level or equivalent. Applicants must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.


Pathways

There are various pathways into the course for current or recent Year 12 students, applicants with previous study and/or life experience, and those with vocational education and training (VET) study.


Fees

The average first-year fee for the course is $7,136 (CSP). The University reviews fees annually, and students can view current course costs and domestic tuition fee rates by unit.
