Bachelor of Youth Work

The Bachelor of Youth Work is a three-year full-time or equivalent part-time course that provides students with the theoretical insights and practical skills needed to become effective and empathetic youth workers. The course responds to a community need for highly trained youth workers to work with young people and is an inclusive program that empowers the vulnerable and makes a positive difference.

Course Structure

To complete the Bachelor of Youth Work, a student must complete 240 credit points (cp). The course structure includes:

Course Map

The course map outlines the units to be completed in each semester. There are two course maps available: one for students commencing in Semester 1 and one for students commencing in Semester 2.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12, or equivalent:

• Assumed Knowledge: 2 units of English (any) (Band 3) (New South Wales)
• Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL (Victoria)

Pathways

There are several pathways into the course, including:

• Pathways into course for current or recent Year 12 students
• Pathways into course for applicants with previous study and/or life experience
• Further study options, such as honours study in social sciences or postgraduate research programs

Fees

The average first-year fee for the course is $12,482 (CSP). The University reviews fees annually, and a student's annual fee will vary depending on factors including the number of units studied per year, choice of major or specialisation, and elective units.

Scholarships
