Program Overview
Master of Mental Health
The Master of Mental Health is a postgraduate degree that provides students with advanced knowledge and skills in the field of mental health. The program is designed to equip students with the expertise to work in a variety of mental health settings, including hospitals, community health organizations, and private practice.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the Master of Mental Health program, applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree in a health discipline or equivalent. Applicants must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.
Completion Requirements
To qualify for the degree of Master of Mental Health, students must complete 120 credit points from the Schedule of Unit Offerings. The program consists of two streams: Project Stream and Research Stream.
Project Stream
The Project Stream requires students to complete:
- 40 credit points from Specified Mental Health units (Part A)
- 60 credit points from Project Stream units (Part B)
- 20 credit points from Elective units (Part C)
Research Stream
The Research Stream requires students to complete:
- 40 credit points from Specified Mental Health units (Part A)
- 80 credit points from Research Stream units (Part D)

Course Maps
The program offers different course maps for full-time and part-time students, commencing in either Term 1 or Term 3. The course maps outline the recommended sequence of units to be completed over the duration of the program.
Exit Points
Students who have completed the requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Mental Health or the Graduate Diploma in Mental Health may exit with the relevant award.
Progression Requirements
Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progression through this course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.
